Tal and ABC

The and. There were twin sisters who were blind. Tal and ABC, so called because she had moved out of home where Tal and their mother lived; to camp on the roof of the ABC cinema.

Tal had learnt to see words. She saw them all. When she walked in the street she saw the street names; the adverts; shop names; the writing of T-shirts of people by, the gravestones or the manhole covers, the empty wrappers and walking past a book shop; every word on every page from every direction tower above her and below her. A sea of words.
