The Dyslexic Collective
TDC is a lateral book publishing the work of seven dyslexic writers whose work was performed at the DYS(the)LEXI festival. An event which was designed to explore and challenge the belief that dyslexics cannot or do not like to write. We wanted the book to be as unique as the event. A mini-lateral book was what we came up with, offering its readers a tiny insight into peculiar minds and creative potential. For more info on the event itself see: www.missfitproducations.org
Pokkadots and Abucases
P&A is called pokkadots because you cant have one pokkadot - you need many. Abucases is symbolic of learning, so a literal translation is something like: the way in which many people learn. the poems are not designed to map out any conclusion but instead is part of a bigger puzzle showcased at MMU's dada and dyslexia show, part of dyslexia awareness week 2007. For more information on this event see: www.dyslexicdada.com
Forgotten Letters
Forgotten Letters is an anthology of poems by writers with dyslexia, for Dyslexia Awareness week 2010. The idea behind it was to collate and document voices of difference. Some of the contributors are very young and have only written a handful of poems while, others, have devoted a large part of their working lives to writing. Although initially intended for print, the anthology is now available as a download. However, I would be grateful if you could send me an email letting me know that you have downloaded it, with a few lines about what you think. Please also note, that while most of these poems are suitable for young people with dyslexia there is some explicit language in a few of the poems.
